MAINTENANCE + CARE
Clean with a damp, lint-free cloth, then dry.
Wipe dust with a lightly damp, lint-free cloth. To protect the surface, always use drink coasters and place mats. Wipe up any spills immediately. Use protective pads under hot dishes. Cover the bottoms of all tabletop accessories with felt pads. Do not expose wood to extreme changes in humidity. Do not place wood in direct sunlight.
DANISH OIL FINISH MAINTENANCE
Periodically buff with a lint-free cloth to renew the shine. The more it’s buffed, the better it looks. Spills can be cleaned up with a damp cloth of distilled water or with a one-to-one vinegar and distilled water solution. Buff dry after wiping. Always wipe with the grain of the wood to prevent noticeable streaks. A coat of oil should be applied at least once a year. FDA-approved Danish oil can be purchased through The Old Wood Co.
WAX FINISH MAINTENANCE
Periodically buff with a lint-free cloth to renew the shine. The more it’s buffed, the better it looks. When needed, apply a very thin coat of wax and then buff with a soft, lint-free cloth. Always remember to wipe with the grain of the wood to prevent noticeable streaks. To remove drink rings, use a very small amount wax applied to a piece of fine, synthetic steel wool. Rub lightly with the grain. Allow the wax to dry for 5–10 minutes. Remove the wax in the direction of the grain with a clean, lint-free cloth. Paste wax can be purchased through The Old Wood Co. or at most fine antique stores.
